Tasting Notes
Black/purple in colour, this fresh Tempranillo (which is a Spanish grape variety) is bursting with dark fruits such as plum, black & red cherries, blueberry, with a background lift of jasmine, a hint of liquorice & dried herbs. The palate is fine & juicy with raspberry jube & liquorice all-sorts flavours & backed up with fine tannins. This is a terrific early drinking red wine which also has medium term cellaring potential. It is a fine match with something like mushroom risotto
Winemaker's Notes
The 2009 vintage was one of the best vintages in the South West of Western Australia with plenty of sunshine with moderate heat for close to perfect autumn ripening. There was no problem getting the Tempranillo grapes flavour and tannin ripe with balanced crops and canopies.
The 2009 Juniper Crossing Tempranillo was grown in the Fergusson Valley (situated north of the Margaret River wine region) & is made as a bright fruit driven style with very moderate oak influence (no new oak). It is a wine to enjoy now and over the next 5 years
